Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Kingsights ("we", "us") processes when you use our chess-analysis tools, and how we handle it. We have designed Kingsights to work with as little personal data as possible.
1. Overview
Kingsights does not require an account, a password, or an email address to use. We do not sell your data. The core analysis runs on publicly available chess games associated with a username that you choose to enter.
2. Information We Process
- Chess username: the username you type into the analysis form. We use it only to fetch and analyse the corresponding public games for that session.
- Public game data: moves, results, timestamps, and ratings retrieved from third-party chess platforms for the username you enter. This information is already public on those platforms.
- Usage and performance data: aggregated, anonymised metrics about how pages perform and are used (for example, page-load timings), collected to help us keep the site fast and reliable.
- Local browser storage: preferences such as your chosen language, and short-lived caches of a generated report, stored in your own browser.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, and we ask that you do not submit any.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- Fetch, analyse, and display a chess report for the username you enter.
- Remember your language preference and speed up repeat visits.
- Understand aggregate usage and diagnose performance problems so we can improve the Service.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
Kingsights does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage to remember preferences (such as language) and to cache a report you have already generated, so the site loads faster. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.
5. Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of third parties to operate the Service:
- Chess platforms (such as Chess.com): we request public game data through their public interfaces. Your use of that data is also governed by their policies.
- Hosting and performance analytics (Vercel): our site is hosted on Vercel, which processes basic request and performance data to serve and monitor the site.
These providers process data under their own privacy policies.
6. Data Retention
The analysis is generated on demand and is not tied to a personal account. Report caches stored in your browser remain until they expire or you clear them. Aggregated, anonymised usage and performance metrics may be retained to monitor and improve the Service, but they are not used to identify you.
7. Children's Privacy
Kingsights is a general-audience chess tool and is not directed at children below the age required by your local law to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will address it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Because Kingsights operates without accounts and processes primarily public data on demand, we typically hold little or no personal data about a given individual. If you have a request, contact us and we will do our best to help.
The game data itself is controlled by the chess platform it comes from; requests to change or remove it should be directed to that platform.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
10. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle data, contact us at support@kingsights.net.
